Our Mission
Walking into a library or a bookstore can be incredibly overwhelming. There are so many books to choose from, and it can be difficult to know whether a particular story will uplift truth, goodness, and beauty from the Catholic perspective.
That’s where This Catholic Family Reads comes in.
We are a carefully curated and ever-growing selection of modern books for babies through adults that lifts up the true, the good, and the beautiful through the lens of our Catholic faith. Any book you purchase based on our suggestion is something we would readily hand our own children or read ourselves. This Catholic Family Reads is owned by Catholic convert, children’s author, mom to four, and teacher Lorelei Savaryn. It is an offshoot of our blog ministry This Catholic Family.
Many Catholic book recommendation sites have curated beautiful lists that focus on the classics or specifically religious content, but there are also so many beautiful stories that have come out in recent years as well. That’s why we will focus on recommending books in the fiction, non-fiction, and religious categories with a priority on books that have released in the last 5 years.
Our Goal
Our goal is to grow into a full service online children’s bookstore and resource hub that will allow more of your purchase to directly support this Catholic-owned business. We hope to grow into the ability to stock inventory in order to fulfill and ship orders ourselves, removing the need for affiliates like Amazon and Bookshop. But for now, purchasing books through our affiliate links will give us the ability to move closer to this goal, and your support in that way as we launch is greatly appreciated.
About Me:
Lorelei Savaryn is an author of magical, hopeful stories for young readers including The Circus of Stolen Dreams, The Edge of In Between, and The Night Train. She was confirmed in the Catholic faith in 2016, and her conversion journey can be found on an episode of EWTN’s The Journey Home. She has taught multiple grades between 1st and 8th, and currently works as an instructional coach. Lorelei and her husband John Paul live outside of Chicago with their four children and dog named Saint Maker. She previously owned a mobile children’s bookstore, and is thrilled to bring quality book recommendations to Catholic families via This Catholic Family Reads.
